The General Legal Council is the body that regulates the legal profession in Ghana. It was created in 1960 by an Act of Parliament, the Legal Profession Act 1960 (Act 32). His task was to oversee legal education and the legal profession in the country. [1] The Board maintains the admission of lawyers to practise. He also registered new members to the Ghana Bar during the first week of October. It has a disciplinary committee capable of sanctioning and expelling lawyers from the country. [2] The Council is composed of academics, judges and legal practitioners representing legal education, training and practice. [2] The current Chief Justice of Ghana is the Chief Justice. It also includes the three most senior members of the Supreme Court of Ghana. This includes the Attorney General of Ghana and his candidate. The Council, President, Vice-President and Secretary of the Ghana Bar Association are also part of the Council. [3].
